Assembly and Disassembly Methods for Crossed Roller Bearings

发布时间:2022-04-24

The assembly of cross-roller bearings is critically important for their proper use and optimal performance. Only by installing the bearings correctly can their full performance be realized while ensuring their service life. Below, our Ovite editor will provide a detailed introduction to both the assembly and disassembly methods for cross-roller bearings, hoping that this information will be helpful to everyone.

I. Assembly Method for Crossed Roller Bearings

1. Cleaning: Before assembly, cross roller bearings must be thoroughly cleaned. Carefully clean the bearing, spindle, bearing housing, and other installation components to remove any rust-preventive oils, dirt, or impurities left over from the factory. At the same time, check whether there are any burrs or sharp edges on the bearing installation parts.

2. Installing the Bearing: Insert the crossed roller bearing into the bearing housing. During installation, ensure that the bearing remains perfectly horizontal. To prevent tilting, keep the bearing level and gently tap it evenly with a plastic hammer on the opposite side, gradually pressing it into the housing. You can confirm proper seating by listening carefully and ensuring that the bearing’s reference surface is fully and tightly against the housing.

3. Fixed flange

(1) Place the fixed flange onto the crossed roller bearing, and gently shake the fixed flange several times to align the positions of the bearing and the bolt holes.

(2) Insert the set screws into the holes, and while turning the screws by hand, make sure that they can be easily screwed in without any difficulty caused by misalignment of the screw holes.

(3) When tightening the fixing bolts, do not tighten them all at once. Instead, gradually tighten them in 3 to 4 stages, following a diagonal, line-by-line sequence. As you tighten the inner and outer rings, slightly rotate either the inner or outer ring as a whole; this will help correct any misalignment between the main body and the inner and outer rings.

II. Disassembly Method for Crossed Roller Bearings

1. Percussion method

The tapping force is typically applied to the inner ring of the cross roller bearing. In shielded machine rooms, the tapping force should not be applied directly to the rolling elements or the retainer. This method is simple and easy to implement, but it can easily damage the bearing. When the bearing is located at the end of the shaft, use a copper rod or other soft-metal material with a diameter smaller than the bearing’s inner diameter to press against the shaft end, and place a shim beneath the lower part of the bearing. Then, gently tap the bearing with a hand hammer to remove it. When using this method, it is crucial to ensure that the shim is positioned appropriately and that the point of application is correct; only then can the bearing be removed smoothly.

2. Pull-out method

Use a specialized puller: when removing the bearing, simply rotate the handle, and the bearing will be slowly pulled out. When removing the outer ring of the bearing, the two legs of the puller should be spread outward; when removing the inner ring, the two legs of the puller should be directed inward and securely clamped against the end face of the inner ring of the cross roller bearing.

The above is the assembly and disassembly procedure for cross roller bearings. We hope this information is helpful to you. Moreover, proper installation of bearings not only helps maximize their performance but also extends their service life. Of course, it’s important to pay attention to daily maintenance and care of bearings as well. At Aowite, we have many years of experience in manufacturing cross roller bearings.
